Fauns are a race of goat-like, uncorrupted satyrs that broke away from the Burning Legion and became a new playable race for the Alliance.

During the War of the Satyr which happened 9,000 years ago, between the Night elves of Ashenvale and the Lords of the Emerald Flame, armies of satyrs attacked the night elves with the intent of destroying their civilization. At least part of the war was fought on Ashenvale, and the Satyrs were allied with the Demons from the Burning Legion. The night elves, under the command of Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind, fought against Xalan the Feared, a successful general of the satyrs. The night elves Ralaar Fangfire, Belrysa and Arvell fought against Xalan and defeated him in combat, leading all the Night elves to victory.

  • Druid - Former Night elven druids were turned into satyrs by the Burning Legion. After the War of the Satyr and been healed by the corruption, the Fauns would remember the Druidic ways and the follow the rules in teaching.
  • Hunter - The Fauns enjoyed the wildlife in Feyland, and they developed a close bond with animals. The animals would serve them as pets, and they be known as Hunters.
  • Priest - After been free from the corruption, the Fauns (former Satyrs) started to forget the arts of the Priest or Priestesses of Elune. However, Savassan was the only one to remember, and guided the Fauns to remember their ways as Priests.
  • Rogue - Like the Night elves, the Fauns adapted to shadowy environments and favor the path of the Rogue, in which they serve as excellent scouts, delving deeper into enemy lines then any other race could ever hope to achieve.
